Embroidery hoops

Embroidery hoops

Embroidery hoops are round and oval and come in sizes from 4 inches up to 24 inches in diameter. Since cross stitch projects come in many sizes you may want to have a couple of different size embroidery hoops on hand. Embroidery hoops are dirt cheap and come in about a million sizes, and in brightly colored plastic or bare paint-ready wood. Any fabric with great graphics can become instant art (the precut "fat quarters" you find in fabric or quilting stores are a great size for this project, and quilting fabrics come in some pretty incredible prints). Embroidery hoops are sold in sets of two hoops that fit into each other. The smaller hoop is only slightly smaller in size than the larger hoop, and the larger hoop usually has a tightener that allows you to clamp the two pieces together and stretch the fabric you are working on.

Embroidery hoops are used while quilting. Wooden frames are usually used for hand quilting. Embroidery Hoops are ideal for small projects and we also sell a Stretcher Frames System specifically made for stretching fabric. Artist's canvas stretcher bars also work very well and are sold at most art supply stores in different lengths (in pairs). Embroidery hoops are awkward items to store. Often they end up stored where we can't find them and repurchase what we already own.

Embroidery hoops are ideal for small projects and many art stores sell frames specifcally made for stretching fabric. Adjust the frame to fit your fabric and attach the silk with stainless steel push pins or silk tacks.

Plastic over time will stretch out of shape and may not be as taut as a new hoop. Therefore, if you are experiencing difficulty with fabric puckering around the edges of designs and your hoop is older than 1 year of light-duty embroidery, you may need to purchase a new hoop. Plastic canvas is commonly used to make small items such as tissue boxes, fridge magnets, decorations and even key-rings. It can be cut to shape and it doesn't fray making it one of the easiest 'fabrics' to work with.

Tubular hoops differ from other hoops because the hoops arms are on the outside of the garment and connect to the inner hoop ring, while the larger outer ring is on the inside of the garment. To be used without the table top. Tubular hoops are comprised of a larger and a smaller circular section of a hollow cylinder. The larger hoop is called the female hoop portion and is sized so as to frictionally receive in its inner diameterthe smaller hoop, which is called the male portion.
